Japan To Provide 19,200 Million Yen in Concessional Loan to Cambodia

image001The Government of Japan has pledged to provide some 19,200 Million Yen, or more than US$158 million, in image002concessional loan to Cambodia for the construction of a portion of National Road No. 5.

The pledge was made by H.E. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, during a working luncheon organized on Mar. 15 in honor of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his accompanied members, on the sidelines of the Third United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction held in Sendai, Miyagi prefecture, Japan, according to the National Television of Cambodia (TVK)’s report.

On the occasion, H.E. Shinzo Abe expressed thanks to Cambodia for depicting the picture of Kizona Bridge (Chroy Changvar Bridge) and Tsubasa Bridge (Neak Loeung Bridge), which have been built under the financial assistance from Japan, on Cambodia’s new 500 Riel banknote.

H.E. Shinzo Abe said he had already received the new 500 Riel banknote through a Japanese deputy foreign minister, and he stressed that Japan will continue to contribute to strengthening the connectivity in Cambodian, particularly between Cambodia and its neighboring countries in the ASEAN region.
