In the meeting, H.E. Erkki Tuomioja told the Cambodian premier that his trip aimed to push the bilateral connection between the two countries to another step and that he was very impressed with the growing economy of Cambodia, through which he said, it was considered as a pride.
Finland will continue assisting Cambodia in order to sustain the national development, said the Finnish foreign minister, who also took that opportunity to find out the process of the improvement of Cambodia.
In reply, Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen briefed H.E. Erkki Tuomioja on the history of Cambodia, starting from bare hand. Concerning the economy, he said, Cambodia set the goal of the national reform to reach at least 7 percent of the annual economic growth for long-term period, to reduce the poverty rate of over 1 percent a year, and to promote the public financial and judicial reform, anti-corruption, and public administration.
“The most important factor is that the Royal Government of Cambodia has Rectangular Strategy and good governance, the backbone of this strategy,” underlined Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
