Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received here yesterday afternoon at the Peace Palace visiting Supreme Commander and Deputy Chief of the National Council for Peace and Order of Thailand H.E. Gen. Tanasak Patimapragorn.
H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian premier, said H.E. Gen. Tanasak Patimapragorn’s visit to Cambodia this time is to represent H.E. Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha, new Prime Minister of Thailand, to visit Samdech Techo Hun Sen and to thank Cambodia for its cooperation will and spirit in the framework of ASEAN.
H.E. Gen. Tanasak Patimapragorn also affirmed that Thailand is ready to boost more cooperation with Cambodia, said the assistant.
In reply, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said Cambodia understood and respected the Thai people’s determination and decision. “No one knew Thailand better than the Thai people themselves, and no one could resolve the Thai internal issue beside the Thai people themselves,” he stressed.
According to the assistant, Samdech Techo Hun Sen took the opportunity to thank the Thai government for having provided the legal status to Cambodian migrant workers.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister added that for the common benefit, both countries have to complement each other in terms of economic cooperation. He also recommended both sides to cooperate in transforming the common border into an area of peace, friendship, cooperation and development, and to avoid making a small issue become a big dispute which can affect the investment, tourism and development cooperation, particularly the people living in the border area.
Earlier on the same day, the Thai delegation held talks with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense H.E. Tea Banh.
