Cambodian top leaders and other senior officials will gather again this late afternoon for religious rites after the procession of the late King-Father Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk’s ashes to Preah Keo Morakot Pagoda (Silver Pagoda) ended successfully this morning.
According to the schedule, the Buddhist rites will be held at the Silver Pagoda at 5:00 pm under the presidency of His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, and Her Majesty Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk with the participation of National Assembly President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, and many other senior officials, as well as royal family members.
Outside the Royal Palace, there will be art performances at Wat Phnom Resort and at a public park in from of Bottum Vatdei Pagoda, and at Samdech Techo Hun Sen Park from 7:00 pm to 10:00pm, and at 8:00 pm, there will be fireworks to mark the procession of the late King-Father’s ashes.
This is the second day of the royal urns procession and interment ceremony. According to the schedule, the third day (July 12) is called the Royal Interring of the late King-Father Norodom Sihanouk’s Urns. It will begin early in the morning, and from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, people are allowed to pay their tributes to the late King-Father at the Silver Pagoda.
The three-day ceremony will finish at around 8:00 pm following the religious rituals in front of the Royal Palace.
