Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Hor Namhong has requested France to provide more scholarships on French studies to Cambodian students.
H.E. Hor Namhong made the request during a meeting here this morning with newly appointed Ambassador of France to Cambodia H.E. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, H.E. Kuy Kuong, Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation told reporters after the meeting.
The requested scholarships are especially for students of the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), the University of Health Sciences, and the Royal University of Law and Economics, the spokesperson pointed out.
H.E. Hor Namhong expressed profound thanks to France for its support and assistance to the peace building, reconstruction and development of Cambodia in different sectors including education, agriculture, health, infrastructure, and human resource training.
The Cambodian top diplomat also thanked H.E. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, who was a member of the French delegation for the peace seeking process in Cambodia.
In addition, both sides discussed the upcoming visit of a Cambodian delegation led by H.E. Hor Namhong to France for the July 14 parade to commemorate the beginning of the First World War centenary at the invitation of the French government.
