Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen started this morning his three-day official visit in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, according to the National Television of Cambodia (TVK).
During his stay in Bangladesh, Samdech Techo Hun Sen will hold official talks with H.E. Ms. Sheikh Hasina, and both premiers will preside over the signing ceremony of four important documents, including the agreement on the establishment of a joint commission for promoting bilateral cooperation, the memorandum of understanding on scientific and technical cooperation in the field of agriculture, the agreement on cultural cooperation, and the agreement on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investment, according to a press release of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
This is the first visit of Samdech Techo Hun Sen to Bangladesh since both countries established their diplomatic ties in February 1993 and following the visit of H.E. Ms. Sheikh Hasina in Cambodia in January 2011.
Over the past 21 years, Cambodia and Bangladesh have supported each other on the international arenas. Cambodia used to support Bangladesh’s candidacy for the Executive Board of UNESCO, the International Maritime Organization, and the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2015-2018 term, while Bangladesh used to support Cambodia’s candidacy as a member of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO and a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2013-2014 term.
