Cambodian Premier Receives Former Maldives President

image002Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held talks here this morning at the Peace Palace with visiting former Maldives President H.E. Mohamad Waheed Hassan.

During the courtesy meeting, H.E. Mohamad Waheed Hassan said this is his first ever visit to Cambodia and he noted the rapid development in the Kingdom, H.E. Ieng Sophalet, Assistant to the Cambodian premier, told reporters following the talks.

The former Maldives president praised Samdech Techo Hun Sen for his active contribution to bring about peace, stability and development to the country. He also took the opportunity to invite Samdech Techo Hun Sen to pay an official visit to his country.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen briefed his guest on Cambodia’s peace seeking and national reconciliation process.

The prime minister urged H.E. Mohamad Waheed Hassan to further help promoting the cooperation between Cambodia and Maldives, particularly in the fields of agriculture and tourism.

Currently, Cambodia is boosting its exports, mainly the agricultural products as the country has over 5 million tons of paddy rice surplus for export, said Samdech Techo Hun Sen, stressing that Cambodia is needing investments in rice milling, creation of warehouses and agricultural product processing.

The Cambodian premier accepted H.E. Mohamad Waheed Hassan’s invitation to visit Maldives at an appropriate time.
