Foreign Minister Receives First Ever Ambassador of Turkey to Cambodia


image001Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Hor Namhong held talks here this morning with Ambassador of Turkey to Cambodia H.E. Ilhan Kemal Tug at the ministry.

H.E. Ilhan Kemal Tug is the first appointed Turkey Ambassador to Cambodia since Cambodia and Turkey established their diplomatic relations in 1994, H.E. Koy Kuong, Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, told reporters after the meeting.

H.E. Hor Namhong congratulated Turkey on the opening of its embassy in Cambodia after the latter’s free and fair national election on July 28, 2013, and expressed warm welcome to H.E. Ilhan Kemal Tug’s diplomatic mission in the Kingdom, said the spokesperson.

For his part, the Turkish diplomat congratulated Cambodia on its economic development and pledged to further promote more bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, and tourism.

Cambodia and Turkey will organize jointly two big meetings this year, including the Cambodia-Turkey joint economic commission meeting to boost more economic cooperation, and the political consultative meeting between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries, said H.E. Ilhan Kemal Tug, adding that the Turkish foreign minister would pay a visit to Cambodia to inaugurate the new embassy.
