Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received here yesterday at the Peace Palace visiting Mrs. Dr. Xu Lin, Chief Executive of Confucius Institute Headquarters, prior to the opening ceremony of the 2013 Joint Conference of Confucius Institutes in Asia.
In the meeting, Mrs. Dr. Xu Lin, also Director-General of Chinese Language Council, highly praised Samdech Techo Hun Sen for his tireless endeavors in developing the country, said H.E. Ieng Sophalet, Assistant to the Cambodian prime minister following the meeting.
Currently, there are 90 Confucius Institutes in 31 countries and regions, said Mrs. Dr. Xu Lin, noting that the Confucius Institute of the Royal Academy of Cambodia has rapidly developed and becomes a good model for other institutes.
For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his full support over the progress of the Confucius Institute of the Royal Academy of Cambodia, stressing that the institute would contribute to developing and strengthening the ties of relationship and cooperation between Cambodia and China.
He further said the 2013 Joint Conference of Confucius Institutes in Asia, taking place on May 29-31 in Phnom Penh, is part of the events to mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Cambodia-China diplomatic relations.
