Agreement on Additional Commitments for Financial and Technical Cooperation between Cambodia and Germany Signed

The Royal Government of Cambodia and the German Federal Government reached here this morning a €5-million Agreement on Additional Commitments for Financial and Technical Cooperation.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Keat Chhon, Minister of Economy and Finance and visiting H.E. Hans-Jurgen Beerfeltz, State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development signed the agreement.

Under this agreement, the German Federal Government will provide a €3-million financial and €2-million technical cooperation for the family planning, and child and maternal welfare promotion in Cambodia, according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

During his visit in Cambodia, H.E. Hans-Jurgen Beerfeltz has also announced to grant €1 million for the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) for 2012-2013.

From 1992-2011, Germany has provided a cooperation financing of some US$360 million to Cambodia to support various development projects in the prioritized fields of rural development, health, land management, good governance, etc.
