King Leaves for a State Visit in Vietnam

His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, left here on Monday for the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for a state visit until Sept. 26 at the invitation of Vietnamese President H.E. Truong Tan Sang.

The Cambodian monarch was seen off at Phnom Penh International Airport by Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly; Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister; H.E. Say Chhum, First Vice President of the Senate; and other senior officials, as well as members of the royal family.

According to an official of the Embassy of Vietnam, this three-day visit aims to strengthen the traditional ties of friendship and cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

This year, Cambodia and Vietnam are celebrating the 45th anniversary of their diplomatic ties and the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Year.
