PM Leaves for Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Iran

A high-ranking Cambodian delegation led by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen departed here this morning for the Islamic Republic of Iran to attend the 16th Non-Aligned Movement Summit (NAM) to take place on Aug. 30-31 in Tehran.

The upcoming summit will be held under the theme: “Lasting Peace through Joint Global Governance”, H.E. Sry Thamrong, Delegate Minister Attached to the Prime Minister told reporters at Phnom Penh International Airport before the departure of the delegation.

After Iran, Samdech Techo Hun Sen will continue his visit to China to attend the opening ceremony of the 2nd China-Eurasia Expo before returning home on Sept. 3, he pointed out.

The delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Hor Namhong, and other members of the Royal Government of Cambodia, according to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

On the sidelines of the 16th NAM Summit, Samdech Techo Hun Sen will hold a bilateral talk with H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and have a meeting with H.E. Kim Yong Nam, President of Presidium of Supreme People’s Assembly of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, indicated the press release.

The 2nd China-Eurasia Expo is scheduled to be held on Sept. 1-5 in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, said the press release, adding that during his stay in Urumqi, Samdech Techo Prime Minister will hold a bilateral talk with H.E. Wen Jiabao, Premier of the State Council of China.
