20th Kunming Import & Export Fair Opened in China’s Yunnan Province

The 20th Kunming Import & Export Fair and the 5th South Asian Countries Trade Fair were opened in Yunnan province of China on June 6 in the presence of Kunming Governor Li Jiheng, according to Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) reporter.

In his remarks, Kunming Governor Li Jiheng said since 1993, under the support of the Chinese government, Yunnan province and other foreign countries participating in the Kunming Fair have formed an international trade forum with the aim of promoting the cooperation in the region.

In the past 20 years, he said, the Kunming Fair and the South Asian Countries Fair were extended and their influences were intense.

Some 150,000 businessmen have been participating in the two events with a total cost of about US$17.57 million, he said.

Li Jiheng considered the two events as a big stage for Southeast Asian and South Asian countries and also a forum for the people to meet together for creating the ties of friendship in the region.

He hoped that the five-day twin fairs will promote a good cooperation in the region and get more success.

Different products from Southeast Asian and South Asian countries have been being displayed on more than 1,000 stalls.
