Cambodian Premier: New Era of Cambodian-Thai Cooperation to Start

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen this morning said nightmare of Cambodia and Thailand already passed and this is the new era of the cooperation of the two nations.

“Today is a good opportunity for me to announce the new cooperation era between Royal Government of Cambodia and Royal Government of Thailand led by Pheu Thai Party”, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said.

Speaking at the student graduation ceremony of Human Resource University, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said Cambodia-Thailand General Border Commission (GBC) and Joint Border Committee (JBC) have to continue.

The GBC meeting will be held between Cambodian and Thai defense ministers without the presence of Indonesia when new Thai defense minister visit Cambodia, but about the 17 kilometers of the provisional demilitarized area defined by the International Court of Justice
(ICJ), it’s necessary to have the presence of Indonesia, because it is in the agenda of United Nations Security Council, ICJ, and ASEAN he said.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said to rebuild the confidence and peace along the border and to bring the border situation to normalcy as before July 15, 2008 we have to process our talking at all level.

The Cambodian-Thai border tension has been eased since Pheu Thai Party won a landslide victory on July 3, said Samdech Techo said.

The border tension between two countries sparked up after Cambodian listed Preah Vihear temple into the UNESCO’s World Heritage Site on July 7, 2008.
