Development Partners Pledge US$1,100-Million Package for Cambodia’s Development

Development partners pledged to provide US$1,100 million in aid for the development of Cambodia in 2010, senior government official confirmed yesterday at a press conference after the Third Cambodia Development Cooperation Forum.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance H.E. Keat Chhon said Japan is always the biggest donor for the implementation of reform programmes and development of Cambodia.

The assistance would be mainly used to develop infrastructures, water, energy, and human resources, he said.

The Royal Government of Cambodia, the international community as well as the development partners gathered here on June 2-3 in the Third Cambodia Development Cooperation Forum to review progress, reflect on challenges, and identify actions that are required to reach the targets set out in the Rectangular Strategy – Phase II, the National Strategic Development Plan (NSDP), and the Cambodia Millennium Development Goals (CMDGs).
