Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has asked his visiting Malaysian counterpart Dato’ Sri Mohamad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak to help promote Malaysian investment in Cambodia.
During their talks here this morning at the Office of the Council of Ministers, Samdech Techo Hun Sen urged the Malaysian leader to help promote Malaysian investment in the field of agriculture in Cambodia, Ieng Sophalet, assistant to Samdech Techo Hun Sen told reporters upon the talks.
For his part, Mr. Dato’ Sri Mohamad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak told the Cambodian premier of his visit in Cambodia, the purpose of which, he said, is to further strengthen and expand the bilateral ties and trade between the two countries. He also pledged to do his best to encourage more Malaysian investors to invest in Cambodia.
On the occasion, the Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked Malaysia for its assistance to Cambodia, especially for its 106-kilometer used railway’s track to build the 48-kilometer missing link connecting Sisophon district to Poipet city, its acceptance of Cambodian labor force to work in Malaysia, which up to now amounted to 25,445 workers, and its assistance to Cambodia’s human resource training.
The visiting Malaysian prime minister and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, arrived here on May 9 for a three-day official visit. This morning, before holding talks with Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the Malaysian leader attended the wreath-laying ceremony at the Independence Monument.
After that he had a dialogue with Malaysian investors and businessmen in Cambodia and joined the Cambodia-Malaysia Business Forum with Samdech Techo Hun Sen. In the afternoon, he visited the Hello Axiata Operation Centre, a Malaysian-Cambodian telecommunication joint-venture company.
Tomorrow, before wrapping up his visit here, the Malaysian premier will be granted a royal audience by His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, and meet with Samdech Akka Moha Thamma Pothisal Chea Sim, President of the Senate, and Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly.
This is the first ever official visit of Mr. Dato’ Sri Mohamad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak to Cambodia after he assumed office in April 2009.
