Japan Extends Over US$33-Million Grant Aid to Cambodia

JapanThe Japanese government has decided to extend its grant aid to the Royal Government of Cambodia up to a total amount of 3,305,000,000 Yen (approximately US$33.05 million) to support three development projects.

The exchange of notes on the extension of the grant aid was held here today between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong and Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia Shinohara Katsuhiro under the presidency of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

According to a press release of the Embassy of Japan, of the total amount, 2,005,000,000 Yen will be used for the improvement of the National Road No.1; 931,000,000 Yen for the construction of Marine Aquaculture Development Center in Cambodia; and the rest (369,000,000 Yen) for the rural drinking water supply in Memot district of Kampong Cham province.

“Japan will continue to assist Cambodia in all ways possible in its efforts to reduce poverty and develop the nation,” said the Japanese ambassador on the occasion.
