Uruguay Supports Cambodia’s Candidacy as UNSC Non-Permanent Member

The first ever Ambassador of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, H.E. Gerardo Prato affirmed his country’s support to Cambodia’s candidacy as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

Cambodia’s First Life Insurance Launched

Cambodian Life, the first ever Cambodian life insurance company, was launched here yesterday in the presence of H.E. Aun Porn Moniroth, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

U.S. Secretary of State Invites Cambodian Foreign Minister to Visit Washington Next Month

U.S. Secretary of State H.E. Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton has extended an invitation to Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Hor Namhong to visit Washington on June 12, 2012.

“Your visit would be an important opportunity to identify ways in which we can work together to broaden our bilateral relationship and advance common regional goals during your leadership of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations,” said H.E. A US$60-Million Beer Factory Inaugurated

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, presided over here this morning the inauguration of a US$60-million “Cambodia Beer” Factory of Khmer Brewery Ltd.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Cambodian premier encouraged the export of Cambodian beverage, including beers, but stressed that there will be no ban on the import of foreign beverage.  Read more »

Cambodia Opens Coastal Special Economic Zone

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Masafumi Kuroki inaugurated on Monday the Sihanoukville Port Special Economic Zone (SPSEZ), the first state-owned industrial zone in Cambodia.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said Cambodia has a lot of special economic zones, but the SPSEZ is the only state-owned industrial zone and he believed that Japanese investors will invest and build factories in the zone. Read more »

Cambodian Premier Back Home from the 4th Mekong-Japan Summit

The high-ranking Cambodian delegation led by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen returned home yesterday afternoon after attending the 4th Mekong-Japan Summit held on April 20-21 in Tokyo, Japan.

Speaking at a press conference at Phnom Penh International Airport following the arrival, H.E. Hor Namhong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign affairs and International Cooperation said Samdech Techo Hun Sen and other Mekong countries’ leaders (Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam) and Japan adopted the Tokyo Strategy 2012 for Mekong-Japan Cooperation from 2013-2015. Cambodian Premier Receives Yunnan Governor

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen met here last Friday with visiting China ’s Yunnan Provincial Governor H.E. Li Jiheng.

The 20th ASEAN Summit Ends Successfully

The 20th ASEAN Summit, with the theme of “ASEAN: One Community, One Destiny” held in Phnom Penh, on April 3-4 under the chairmanship of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, concluded successfully.

“The Heads of State/Government of ASEAN Member States had substantive, frank and productive discussions in plenary and retreat sessions,” said the Chairman’s Statement of the 20th ASEAN Summit released this afternoon.

The ASEAN Leaders supported the priorities outlined by Cambodia during its Chairmanship in 2012 and agreed to work together based on the priorities to accelerate the building of the ASEAN Community by 2015 and to ensure the achievements of the ASEAN Community beyond 2015, it said. Read more »

China To Provide Over US$70 Million to Cambodia

China has pledged to provide 250 million Yuan (approximately over US$39 million) in grant and 200 million Yuan (almost US$32 million) in concession loan to Cambodia.

The aid was announced during the talk this morning between visiting Chinese President H.E. Hu Jintao and Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, according to H.E. Khieu Kanharith, Cambodian Minister of Information and Government Spokesperson. Read more »

Cambodian Premier Receives ASEAN Military Leaders

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen received here yesterday at the Peace Palace visiting ASEAN Chiefs of Defense Forces led by Gen. Agus Suhartono, Commander-in-Chief of Indonesian National Defense Forces.

In the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen urged for more cooperation among the ASEAN defense forces on combating terrorism, H.E. Ieng Sophalet, Assistant to the Cambodian premier told reporters upon the meeting.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen further said that military cooperation among the ASEAN member states had seen much progress in recent years, but some challenges, especially disaster, cross border crimes and anti-terrorism, still remain, said the assistant. Read more »
